I have a pdf version of the hp 28s manual. but i´m afraid it`s only
the user manual, don`t know where you can get the reference manual.
the file is heavy about 15mb, what is to say pretty heavy with a dial
up connection like me. Please let me know if you are interested.

Would you be so kind as to sen me your PDF? I may be too careful, but I can not open the battery bay. Thank you. Nicolás

The trick to opening the 28S battery door is to press down on it as you START
to slide it off BUT THEN STOP. This lets it get past the bump inside which
holds it in place. HOWEVER, as soon as it starts to move, stop pressing in,
and only slide it very carefully. It's terribly fragile. Most 28C and 28S
battery doors are now broken. If yours is still intact, take good care of it!

You can download a B/W version of the Owner's Manual here:
http://holyjoe.net/hp/HP-28S_Owner's_Manual.pdf

You can also download a B/W version of the Reference Manual here:
http://holyjoe.net/hp/HP-28S_Reference_Manual.pdf

Hope that helps!

Thank you for these Joe. It's a long weekend here and the forecast
is for three days of rain. Reminiscing over these manuals seems
like a good way to spend some of it.

The 28S was my first HP calculator and probably the reason that I
almost failed my first year of university. (I spent night after
night in coffee shops writing celestial navigation and geodesy
programs on the calculator and went to my morning lectures without
having gone to bed.) I sold the calculator later in the year to pay
tuition and without the distraction of a calculator my grades
improved.
